2014 Toyota Corolla S
Class: Compact Cars
Base Price: $19,700
Fuel Economy: 29/37
The Toyota Corolla is one of those cars that brings happy thoughts of great fuel efficient transporting, but in a smaller package. The all-new 2014 model offers a sedan that will change your mind with a ride so comfy that it will make you think: “family car!”
The family car purchase is one that most often focuses around safety, reliability and space, and the 2014 Corolla really fits the bill with a complete redesign. The sleek exterior has this model looking a little more sporty than previous years, but no compromising on safety. Toyota has always placed a priority on safety as well as reliability – the cornerstones for customer loyalty and repeat business. Toss in the added element of excellence in the fuel economy department and this Toyota is the bomb with a combined 32 mpg.
The Corolla’s interior has upgraded high-quality materials that offer the feeling of a far more expensive vehicle and certainly creates a more comfortable experience both in riding and driving. The roominess of the rear seating area is a pleasant surprise with more than enough space to haul two children around. The controls across the dash and on the steering wheel are simple and easy to use, even for the most novice technology users.
Standard equipment on all Corollas includes: LED headlamps, Bluetooth and lots of airbags (eight to be exact).
Additional options include:
- Next Generation Entune audio with 6.1” touchscreen, Navigation and Entune App suite
- Apps accessible through the audio head unit
- Smart Key/ Push-button start
- Power moonroof
- Back-up monitor
- SofTex™ Seats
- Paddle shifters
- Rear deck lid spoiler
My favorite things that make this Corolla a win-win for families are:
- Roomy back seat
- Spacious trunk (plenty of room for strollers, suitcases, groceries and sporting equipment)
- Rear back up camera
- Touchscreen
- Push button start/stop
Mechanically, the Corolla has an efficient 1.8-liter four-cylinder DOHC engine with a sport drive mode. It has ample power for meeting the needs of a family vehicle and still maintaining the above average fuel economy Toyota is known for. Overall, this model is impressive, especially within its classification. Families will not be disappointed when searching for a classy-looking sedan with lots of extras!
