Summer vacations have many folks turning south to the beaches, but if you long for something a little out of the ordinary, point your compass toward Tennessee – home of Wilderness at the Smokies Waterpark Resort a/k/a the Sevierville Waterpark Resort.
Families can experience an amazing vacation at Tennessee’s largest indoor waterpark wrapping up accommodations, meeting space and fun all in one package. Nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Wilderness Resort offers a virtually weather-proof opportunity to guarantee water recreation year-round for your family. The waterparks are only for resort guests and included with your stay, so no extra fees are necessary, and no worries about crowding from outside guests.
There are many choices for lodging at Wilderness Resort, and your family size and needs will dictate the accommodations that you choose. Stone Hill Lodge rooms are furnished on the upscale side with a rustic/modern décor. These rooms offer amenities that include flat screen televisions, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, ironing boards and safes. Choose from double queen hotel rooms (even some balconies available) up to executive king suites with a myriad of room views and several choices in between.
River Lodge features many different types of room layouts and designs to offer families the opportunity to spread out in a massive suite with a kitchen and fireplace or scale down according to needs and budget. The Wild Water Dome Indoor Waterpark connects to River Lodge so families have easy access to many adventures.
Indoor and Outdoor Waterparks
The indoor waterpark at Wilderness Resort (Wild Water Dome) features a see-through, Foil Tech glass roof that actually allows you to tan indoors basically year-round by letting the sun shine through! The massive 66,000 square foot facility is as state-of-the-art as they come. Enjoy the 10,000 square foot wave pool, thrilling water slides, tubes, a blissful hot tub, a family raft ride and so much more!
Also in the River Lodge area, the Lake Wilderness Outdoor Waterpark has awesome thrill-seeking water rides, a lazy river and a large pool deck. The newest addition, The Wall features twists, turns and drops that will leave you breathless! Washout Wilderness Rapids offers an outdoor wave pool with opportunities for catching the waves via body surfing or tubing.
Salamander Springs Outdoor Waterpark, in the Stone Hill Lodge area, features 150 foot long water slides, a 500 gallon dump bucket and a zero depth play area perfect for toddlers. This is also the area that is home to the Catfish Corral Activity Pool where you can perfct your water basketball skills or swim legitimately for exercise.
Other Adventures at the Sevierville Waterpark Resort
In addition to all of the waterpark activities, you’ll find Adventure Forest family adventure center complete with a three-story ropes course, laser tag, black light mini golf, an arcade and more! There’s always something to do from painting your own pottery to shopping. And dining options include sit-down service, as well as grab and go snacks.
My family has enjoyed a couple of trips to Wilderness at the Smokies loving every single minute of it. The combination of wet (waterpark) and dry (Adventure Forest) activities, along with closeby entertainment in the town of Sevierville, offers non-stop adventure for every age. Always take a moment to check out the SPECIALS tab on the web site if you’re looking for deals or coupons on rooms and packages. Maybe this year is the perfect time to veer from your normal vacation and check out this Sevierville Waterpark Resort. It’s worth the trip!
