Helen, Georgia is a replica of a little Germantown nestled right in the heart of the Northeast Georgia mountains. There is so much to do there from water adventure to shopping, and wine tasting at several spectacular wineries! It’s a great place for a family-friendly vacation with exceptionally priced river tubing and hotels, as well as a perfect destination for a couples weekend.

If you like water adventure, Helen and its natural surroundings offer lots of opportunities to tube, canoe, fish, find your favorite swimming hole and chase waterfalls. Test the limits on outdoor thrills while racing through a water park. Make mountain memories while rafting, tubing and fishing the Chattahoochee River.

If you prefer to paddle your way to fun (and ever searched through the best iSUP reviews in order to find your perfect paddle board), try kayaking and canoeing on Unicoi Lake. Nearby, Smith Creek ambles from Anna Ruby Falls to Unicoi Lake, then continue south to the Chattahoochee River. Bring a fly rod to reel in good times at Smithgall Woods Conservation Area, where you can fly fish on the legendary Dukes Creek trophy trout stream or let Unicoi Outfitters guide you to prized trophy trout streams on private land. If you like competition, head to Helen Water Park and see who can slip and slide the fastest down the fun slides. The Bavarian village of Helen goes full speed ahead into outdoor fun, offering visitors a variety of water-based adventures in the Appalachian Mountains.

After your day of fun, relax with pampering treatments at nearby spas, taste local wines at tasting rooms or fuel up for the next day’s activities at one of many restaurants from casual to fine dining. Vacationers will enjoy staying in one of Helen’s cabins, bed and breakfasts or a downtown hotel until the next day brings another wave of adventure in this Appalachian Trail Town.

Don’t forget Helen when it comes to Oktoberfest! This Georgia town is home to a fantastic Oktoberfest that you won’t want to miss. German beer, polka music and lots of good food!

Alpine Helen-White County Convention & Visitors Bureau has tons of great info on their web site. It’s a great resource when planning your trip, so be sure and check it out!
