PENSACOLA BEACH, FLORIDA

Pensacola,  the City of Five Flags, is often overlooked for more popular coastal communities such as Destin and Panama City. And, while these beach destinations are fabulous, Pensacola has just as much to offer! The have beautiful sandy-white beaches, stunning sunsets, award-winning restaurants and plenty of outdoor recreation. Pensacola beaches aren’t quite as crowded as some of the neighboring communities.

One of coolest things I love about Pensacola has nothing to do with the beach, but rather 10 minutes away in the downtown, historic district. The downtown area has undergone an amazing revitalization showcasing a New Orleans feel with the use of wrought iron balconies and street lamps. Folks can stroll through the area under covered walkways and duck in and out of unique shops, coffee shops…and enjoy lots of arts and cultural opportunities. My favorite way to see the downtown district is by Segway tour – check out Emerald Coast Tours (Call Nick at 850-417-9292 or visit www.EmeraldCoastTours.net). The tour is so interactive and fun that you’ll never realize you’re getting a history lesson.

Contact them at 850-776-4695 or http://hiltonpensacolabeach.com.  Also, if you prefer a condo, check out Portofino Island Resort & Spa, a beautiful property with five luxury towers, each with its own pool. MEXICO BEACH, FLORIDA

Mexico Beach

Mexico Beach is a great place to plan a last minute spring break trip! I fell in love with this hidden gem last year and I am definitely going back! Cute beach houses dot the sandy topography and the lack of crowds is very appealing! Check out my complete story with links to accommodations, restaurants and more at http://thetravelvoicebybecky.com/2013/08/17/floridas-hidden-paradise-mexico-beach/.

The other hotel I want to share is The Inn at Christmas Place! A Traveler’s Choice award-winning property, The Inn is owned by the folks that have the famous Christmas Place on the parkway in Pigeon Forge. I know it’s not Christmas, but I LOVE this place! It is stunning…and decorated immaculately for the Christmas season. And, it stays booked well in advance around the holidays, so this is a great time to visit there! It is a full-service hotel with luxury rooms in the heart of Pigeon Forge. Your family will always remember time spent here.
